Look at this example: Princess Diana's photo and that of her son's Prince William's wedding photo by the Wedding Photographer.
With Diana's photo, equal light source removed all shadows making the image flat looking. With Prince William's photo's, directional lighting was used to give a much improved detail to the image. Do you see the shadow on the right hand side of their faces? This is exactly how the famous painters use light to enhance the image. This is why we use directional light with a softbox or shoot through umbrella when ever we can that my assistant carefully aims the light which we have mounted on a monopod for flexibility. Remember, both of these shots were by Professional Wedding Photographers who we assume charged a lot for their services. Not all photos need directional lighting. However, when you can apply it to a photo, in our opinion and that of other highly respected photographers, it looks the best. We do this when we shoot portraits in our studio. It is called balancing the light from your Key Light and your Fill light (typically a 1:3 ratio: a 1:1 ratio is flat light). This gives us detai, depth and dimension to your Wedding Photograpy.

There you have it. The three elements of an image. We could write pages and pages on each of these three items. Knowning what to do and why and applying these principle is why professional photographer images normally look much better than your averge person's photo. When we see the response of people after they see our group shots properly positioned it makes us feel proud. Now you should add professional equipment and commitment to our customers.
We never forget that this is "your" special day and we work hard to focus on you and your needs to capturing your memories. We spend days before the wedding planning out the days events and selecting which poses and shots we should try to take and where. We have a shot list of over 1000 images to call upon! We scope out the venue and plan with the bride, accordingly. We normally spend 5 to 6 times that of the actual wedding day in bringing these images to you. To our knowledge, in the USA less than 20% of wedding photographers use directional lighting during the event. We simply do not know what the Canadian numbers are. The sad fact is that we have never seen this being used by other photographers in the dozens of wedding that we have seen being photographed! We are not taking about a fixed key and fill flash setup. This is 100% mobile shot on the go. One of the reasons we believe that we do not see it because you require an assistant to position the light carefully and the light it self costs as much as another professional camera.
We believe however, that your memories deserve the best lighting that we can add to them.
The above photo represents the perfect light on this beautiful flower girl's face. Look at the shadow on the left side of her nose. This is our perfect loop lighting that flatter's her. This is what directional lighting is all about.

WEDDING PACKAGE -WHAT IS INCLUDED Price depends upon time allotted which can include, pre-bride and groom home pictures, ceremony, photo shoot and reception – first dance, cutting cake, etc. All bookings require a 33% down payment at the time of the booking which under normal circumstances is non-refundable and the remainder the day of the shoot prior to shooting. A special Gold DVD (100 year life span) with these High Quality JPEGS on it is included with the package. We process these images immediately and they are normally ready in under one week! The Traditional group photos, with families are always shot in RAW mode for best picture quality with enlargements. These high quality photos are processed using Adobe Photoshop CS5 and important other software and printed in house on special very high quality archival materials using the finest Epson inks and papers. We soften your skin to make you look your best (similar to a professional makeup job!). Many people believe that one photographer just can't capture all that is going on during a large event like a wedding. We operate as a husband and wife photographer team. With two photographers instead of one, you get the benefit of multi side views during your wedding. This allows us to shoot both sides of the action and we can better see the various reactions of the wedding party and guests to better document this special moment in your lives. For those special shots, we shoot off camera with a radio triggered flash as used by most high end studios. We do not limit the number of shots that we take. After the ceremony, we travel to various locations where the back grounds are filled with flowers and give us that special natural lighting condition (weather permitting) that make beautiful photographs for your special day. For best results, this requires the off camera flash use with an assistant.
For your printing needs, we use all archival quality inks and paper right down to the Gold DVD (100 year life). Most people do not realize that DVD's have a shelf life from 10-20 years. Ours is over 100 years and is printed on the DVD by the manufacturer! Kirk has been shooting great photographs since before the 90's in film and now with a fully integrated digital work flow for the 21first century.

Create your own custom slide show from these images with Photo Story 3 (free) and add the music of your choice. You can then send copies of this slide show to family and friends. This is a great alternative to an expensive video. We see our photos on the wall every day, hence we prefer photos and do not shoot video. I want those beautiful wedding albums! We have a large selection of special, high quality wedding albums for the bride and groom plus the parent albums. We realize that these albums are expensive and try to bring to quality and value for your money. You pick your albums and we will print the photo sizes to fit as per our price list. Of course, larger prints cost more, so some price adjustment may be required. This can amount to a huge savings on your photo package. For your benefit, we have included Corina leather albums in our Platinum Package. That is why the price is so high. We give you 3 albums for all the family. You can add more pages and photos as you like or change to a different style of album. You will get a credit for the existing albums.

Wedding Story Albums A much desired feature today is the Wedding Story album photo book. A great photo book takes detailed planning well in advance of the Wedding day. Each photo must be carefully touched up in Photoshop and cropped and laid out for each page of the book. Then we send it to our custom printer. Cost is based on time and must include all custom photo touch ups such as level one skin smoothing and blemish removal. You also can include prints (prefer digital negatives) of any additional photos of your honeymoon or engagement shots. * Note: All images smaller than 8"x10" in our wedding packages are printed by an outside custom lab and are normally glossy finish. Images larger than 5x7 are normally printed in house on our professional Epson printer, with matte finish. Optional laser printing is available. Large Print sizes available: 20"x 30", 50"x 75".
